WATCHING FOX NEWS

FOX NEWS has sold itself to the viewing public as being "Fair and Balanced". This blog, by no means, condemns the whole of FOX NEWS, it will however, point out inconsistencies from time to time. The public are the experts of the news media, as we're on the right side of the TV monitor to make the most accurate observations.

Callous and Brutal Reporting

This is Shepard Smith, who is all over FOX NEWS every weekday in the afternoon. Most of the time his rambling off-the-cuff comments are way more cutesy than intelligent or informative. But it does reveal something about the man and his inner thoughts beyond that smarmy professionalism he shows to the camera. Upon reporting, about the new book, that claims the burial tombs of Jesus, good ole Shep, blurted out "Jesus was a daddy", (and much more) around 2:07 PM, MST on Monday the 26Th. of February, 2007. That statement was a most callous confirmation of the book's premise. And a cruel and agonizing rendition of a most sensitive subject to millions of religious Americans across this country. Good Ole Shep, gets the, should be New York Time’s award for blatant and un-newsworthy, put-down of Christian beliefs.

Kelly Wright Ignoring Fair and Balanced

On the Sunday morning, the 21st. of January 2007, Fox & Friends "news" show announcer Kelly Wright brought on Johnny Sutton, the prosecutor of the two boarder agents who shot the illegal in America drug runner, to try his case again with out opposition. As touchy as this case is to concerned Americans, it was a very poor decision by Kelly Wright and or the editors of FOX news regarding the so-called "Fair and Balanced" philosophy of FOX news. It's sad that the CEO of FOX, Mr. Murdoc can't be reached by the general public to report these biased digs inside his network. Surly FOX mouthpieces know what "Fair and Balanced" means. (?) Kelly Wright gets the, not the NYT news award for, 'Less than Honest Biased Reporting'.

"Don't Deserve to be Shot" (?)

In a few short sentences away from describing a recent night club wedding known for drugs, violence and criminals, a FOX reporter, Rick Leventhal somehow found it necessary to make an erroneously judgmental statement. And after reporting that the assailants tried to escape by pulling guns and attempting to run down the officers (one officer was hit) who fired at them in defence of their lives said, "These people don't deserve to be shot". That statement, in regard to the reported incident, is so patronizing of the crime and the criminals, Rick will probably be called as a witness for the defense in their trial. And receive accolades from Al Sharpton himself. I suppose some reporters just can't get that liberal biased stench out of their system. This medal, honored to Rick, is not the New York Time's Red, White, and Yellow award for Excellence in Journalism, but it should be. The NYT will be proud anyway. A second viewing did show that particular statement absent from the article. Much to the credit of the FOX editors.

Last year around the "holidays", super stores like Walmart and Target, were dissing Christmas imagery right and left. Mostly left. Dagan McDowell, a FOX financial news reporter/commentator on one of the many, carnival of the greedy, financial news shows, was stressing out over just how to express herself regarding the problem. She felt she had to say something, so she blurted out (With her cultivated cutesy cool Virginian drawl) something like; Well if the Christians are so upset over no Christmas images in the stores, why don't they go to church instead of the mall? Which must have been one of those semi-celebrity cocktail party generic sound good isms. The kind that the snotty left are most comfortable. The real tragedy here is that Dagan hasn't received an endorsement contract with Mary Kay cosmetics. Yet! McDowell gets the, "I'm not a Peasant and You are" should be NYT award.

Eric Burns: Elite "Journalism" at it's Worst.

This is Eric Alfred Burns who went to Boston College and found himself in just two years. Since then his writing and poetry products have been fascinated with himself. He lives two lives. One inside himself and one parallel to him himself-watching-applauding-smiling inward. That's why most of his writing and poetry are an everyday-chronicle of the next cool thing I do-stream of consciousness clap trap. At least Jack Kerouac was "On the Road" looking at something besides the inside of his head. From time to time Kerouac would show us and society a patch of wisdom, or a truth beyond the diner. There is no sound and fury in Eric's writing, but one out of three ain't bad. Eric is not an intellect, wise or insightful. Self absorption yields no worthwhile contribution except flushing the toilet a couple times a day. After, I suppose, all that droll vacant me-ism and "super guy writer" stuff he did for NBC qualifies him to host the News Watch show on FOX. What it does not license Mr. Burns to do, is to rise halfway out of his seat with crab like gyrations, grunting pained sentences like, don't get me started and hold me back, whenever the name of Sean Hannity was mentioned. It was a woefully sad display of twisted smugness combined with ingrained conceit. Eric Alfred Burns joined the thousands of liberal, self absorbed, ding dong "journalists" long before his true self crackled to the surface of his thin affected personality. Mr. Burns gets three, ought to be, NYT awards for Excellence in Haughty Broadcasting.

O Reilly's False and Vindictive Opinions about the War

Bill O Reilly of FOX news, says he supports the troops in Iraq and cares for children against the ravages of abusers. O Reilly says very casually that Iraq is in "chaos". Yet there is an elected democratic government supported by a militia and police force. There are families living without fear, open thriving shops, oil money supporting the rebuilding of infrastructure, children going to school and not being raped by bullies or Saddam's henchmen. But to O Reilly, all that is inconsequential to his off-the-cuff opinion. It's patently evil to pass off his simplified ego driven ill-conceived opinion to so many within his scope. It demoralizes our troops, and derides a struggling culture of families. The bulk humanity of this world is made up of families apart from the politicts of nations, Mr. Bill. Sometimes he just don't know how not to be an ass. O Reilly gets the, should be NYT medal for Hubris based commentary.

Amanpour and Fox's Griffin reporting out of context

Christian Amanpour and Jennifer Griffin are in the middle east poisoning any news reports they can get their hands on. Griffin works for FOX NEWS and reports everything out of context. "Hezbollah has repelled the mighty Israeli Army", when she knows full well Hezebollah was hiding in neighborhoods where Israel's had to be super cautious to root them out. Girffin ended her report on the recent Israeli conflict with terrorists hold up in a Mosque where women were called in as shields for the terrorists. In the midst's of videos showing terrorists mingling within the women, Griffin asks, and leaves the report with a false yet an unfair and provocative question; "Why are the Israel's shooting at women." Griffin should be removed from the Middle East conflict, if she can't report fairly and in context without an agenda. The Red, White and Yellow, should be, NYT award for Clever Israeli Put Downs.
